Vogt Award Committee keeps Surgical Headphones in the running
Many people probably remember the Vogt Award that
I have applied for in the past. This is an award of up to
$250,000 that is given annually to an entrepreneur in the Greater
Louisville area in order to facilitate or further their invention,
idea or creative process. I have made the first cut twice in the
past, but for the first time, this year I've now made the second cut
and am one of twenty entrepreneurs being evaluated right now for the
final cut! My goal is to have the resources to have my actual prototype for the headphones created and tested "formally" nationwide and worldwide. Yes, the headphones are actually being used worldwide right now and the feedback is phenomenal, but we need empirical studies being conducted in hospitals and medical facilities by physicians and scientists. Please keep my in your thoughts and prayers as
I enter this next phase of competition. For those still wanting
to invest in my company and my headphones, please contact me through
the website! |

Preparing for Advent and the Holiday Season with healing music
No matter what your religious/spiritual beliefs
are, this is the time of year where your choices of glorious music are
nearly limitless. My background is Christian but I firmly and
enthusiastically believe that each person should have the choice and
freedom to choose the belief system that fits them best. This season I would like to share with you some of my favorite music...the music that is particularly healing and uplifting for me because the associations are so positive and have been with me for well over half a century! It's amazing how one's favorite music can bring back floods of memories that had been sleeping in our brains, isn't it? Holiday music associations have to do with your generation, the part of the world you grew up in, your family's belief system and just your personal taste in music. Because winter can be a dark and gloomy time for people, don't forget to pull out your favorite upbeat Christmas music. Here are some of my recommendations!
This is one of my newer favorites,
Here is a link to another favorite: Christmas Lullaby - John Rutter & Cambridge Singers

Healing Music in sickness and in health
The very name "healing music"
implies to some people that this is music for those who are not well.
But that's not really true, is it? Healing is not curing.
Healing is a very complex and difficult to describe process that has more
to do with making us "whole" ---mind, body and spirit. Thus the
origin of the word "holistic" or "wholistic." It's important to
understand that what music is healing for one person may be unpleasant or
annoying for another. I know that between generations, what music is
healing may vary greatly and both younger people and older people seem to
have great difficulty tolerating the other generation's "music" and it
usually is written in quotes, as though to say "or so you call it!" Many serious musicians hold to the belief that healing music must always come from acoustic instruments or natural voices. But recently I heard the well-known Steven Halpern say that research has been done with his synthesized healing music, comparing it to the benefits of acoustic music and that there is no difference. That definitely got my attention. When attempting to define "sickness" and "health" we must remember that both are constant continuums, always changing and always fluid. No one is in perfect health or total sickness, unless they are on their last breath. My point is that we can always benefit from beautiful music, or the rhythm of drums or other instruments, to uplift our spirits, soothe our souls, and give us hope for the best life possible. Years ago I wrote a little book called "Tune Your Life with Music." I've been meaning to update it but what is there still holds true. You can access this little book here

Dr. Cash will come and speak for YOUR association, conference, university or church
Speaking is something that I love to do because for me, speaking is a form of teaching that allows me to reach far more people than if I were still a college professor. Although I love being associated with colleges and universities, I also love the freedom of being able to fly anywhere in the country or the world to be a keynote speaker on "The Healing Power of Music." I have received invitations from as far as Hawaii, Spain, and Turkey and always try to fulfill these invitations and deliver more than I'm asked to deliver. I consider that the knowledge and experience I have acquired is something to be shared and experienced by as many other people as possible! I am always happy to stay in private homes and come when the fares are affordable. I consider myself to be a sort of "music healing missionary" and love to travel to far-away or remote places as well as the major cities and highways and by-ways of life! I can tailor my talk to your group's specific needs and requirements and will offer the most reasonable fee that I possibly can. Please don't assume that your group can't afford me. I will work with you to make it happen. Just visit www.HealingMusicEnterprises.com/speaker.html and then let's talk! See you next month!! Alice Cash |

About Alice Cash | |||||||||
For nearly two decades, I've been helping people use the music that
they already love to heal their lives and increase their wellness
quotient!
I
am one of the world's only clinical musicologists and hold
Bachelors and Masters degrees in piano performance, a Ph.D. in
musicology and a Master of Social Work in clinical social work. I
am also a licensed clinical social worker. I work with people and
diagnoses of all kinds, enabling them to find healing, acceptance and
hope. Many people assume that I am a music therapist but I am not. I was trained originally as a concert pianist, then as a musicologist, then as a clinical social worker. I love performing, researching, and teaching and have put them all together in a career called "Music Medicine." However, the field of music therapy is much better known and has degree programs and credentialing that is very valuable and important. To hear me speak, and watch me in action "is to have a day that will amaze, educate, motivate, and inspire you!"
