In This Issue:
Big Changes at Healing Music Enterprises
In 2005, while
attending National Speakers Association's "Cancun University" I had the idea
to create some wireless, cordless, pre-programmed
headphones with the perfect music for surgery on
them. I had been creating playlists for
surgery patients at the medical school and local
hospitals, and realized that having the music
already on the headphones, ready to go, would be
best of all. At that time, I knew nothing
about getting patents, creating business plans and
marketing a new medical device. Now I do! Surgical Serenity
Headphones is getting big enough and successful
enough that we need to create a separate business
model just for the whole system, including
preprogrammed headphones, a download of our
proprietary music and headphones for procedures
other than surgery! Dr. Cash is now attending
a 10-week entrepreneur course that will help focus
the business methods and plans. Thanks to a
carefully kept database, we know who all of our
subscribers are and who all of our past customers
are. We are thinking of separating the mailing
list for the new business from our regular Healing
Music Ezine, that focuses on music with babies,
Alzheimer's patients, the brain, and other
non-surgery/hospital-related issues. We'd love to have
your thoughts and ideas about this. As part of
our customer service efforts, Dr. Cash will
personally call everyone on the list who has bought
either the headphones or the surgery music download.
If you're a past customer, you can definitely expect
a call in the next couple of weeks! To show
our appreciation, we are again offering a very
special offer on the download of our proprietary
music. Everyone has been so supportive over
the past 11 years and our growth and all the
fantastic media exposure that we've gotten proves
it. Thank you so much for sharing your
thoughts and ideas with me! See our Special Offer later in this Ezine! Save 50%

Preparing for your surgery: 3 Easy
Ideas
In the vast majority of surgeries,
nothing goes wrong. Surgery happens all over the world, every day.
But when things go wrong, whether it’s leaving the sponge inside the
patient’s body, taking off the wrong leg, or breast, or hand, it’s
extremely traumatic. Opera Singer Recovers from Rare Brain Condition using Music To say singing saved 25 year old Sandra Marante’s life is no stretch; in fact, if you ask her, she’ll tell you it saved her twice. At 19 years old, Marante’s burgeoning career as a pop singer was abruptly halted when an accident at a Florida restaurant left her with severe burns. During months of rehabilitation, music served as her therapy and motivation to make it through the painful ordeal. One night, as she lay in her hospital bed, she found herself entranced by an opera performance on television. Inspired by the beauty of the soprano’s voice, she decided to leave the fast-paced world of pop music to pursue the artistry of classical music.
For nearly two decades, I've been helping people use the music that they already love to heal their lives and increase their wellness quotient! I am one of the world's only clinical musicologists and hold a Masters degree in piano performance, a Ph.D. in musicology and a Master of Social Work in clinical social work. I am also a licensed clinical social worker. I work with people and diagnoses of all kinds, enabling them to find healing, acceptance and hope. I love performing, researching, and teaching and have put them all together in a career called "Music Medicine." See you next month!! Alice Cash
