Back-to-School with Music! All around the world, students are starting back to school. It doesn't matter if it's a kindergartner or a college kid, music is going to be a big part of their day and their life. Music seems to permeate the world more than ever before, since the advent of iPods, digital music, Sirius radio and live concerts of all kinds. It's a wonderful time for music and for learning about HOW music can improve brain functioning, enegy levels, accelerated learning and increased motivation. I can remember as a pre-schooler, learning to sing the "ABC song and now my oldest granddaughter is doing the same. Learning through music and rhythm and rhyming was very popular in the 1950's and it's still popular today. Learning body parts by singing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and all of the farm animals by singing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm." School teachers from kindergarten through 12th grade know how to use popular music of the day to spark lively discussions about right and wrong, cultural differences and world geography and politics. Today teachers know that when you sing information, whether state capitals or multiplication tables, it stays in your brain better and ends up being fun! I can remember listening to classical music in high school as I studied for history tests or English tests and when the questions came up on the tests, I was able to recall the answers by remembering when the music I was listening to was. I did this all the way through college and it worked like a charm. Last month, as we watched the Olympics, it was obvious how the music various sports chose, like the rhythmic gymnastics, contributed to the athletes ability to jump higher to leap farther! If you're going to be learning any new information this school year, let music go with you and help you! You'll be glad you did! See our Special Offer later in this Ezine! Save 50% |

According to an article in the Harvard Gazette, ” Read More ... |
